Management-where does your classroom style fit in?

As you are reading, spend some time studying the table labeled  Figure 1-1 Management:  How We Have Evolved on the bottom of page 7 and on pages 8 and 9.  Where do you and your management style fall into this figure?  Are you still managing under first years?  Five years?  Are you at Now with Daily 5?  Where would you like to be?

    1. Wow! This was quite the reality check for me as far as my own education. I see myself in all three areas of management. I have been trying evolve toward what the Daily 5 management is using Reading Workshop, but I have not been successful with being able to get them to be engrossed in their reading and writing so I can meet and teach focus lessons for select groups of students. I feel like I am constantly bouncing from one student to the next and not accomplishing much of anything, due to the constant interruptions involved in managing a group of students who think their needs and wants need immediate attention. I hoping as I read, this will be what I have been looking for.

    2. I hope it is what you are looking for, too. As I read the book (well, I have honestly read it more than once) I discovered this was the foundation of what I believed reading/l.a. curriculum should be-INTERTWINED. Once you get this program going successfully you will find that as a teacher you will be working smarter NOT harder!
